Stack-up values stay local. No PCB file is read.

Target impedance, dielectric, copper, frequency, length, and tolerance values are calculated only on the current page. TraceCraft does not ask for Gerber, ODB++, IPC-2581, or CAD files, and it does not connect to fabricators, EDA tools, or field solvers.

Quasi-static closed-form estimate, not controlled-impedance approval

The tool inverts the Hammerstad–Jensen microstrip model, calculates nominal effective permittivity, delay, guided wavelength, and electrical length, and combines low/high width, dielectric height, and εr into eight corners. Copper thickness is used only for the t/W advisory and is not an impedance correction. It handles single-ended outer-layer microstrip—not differential, internal stripline, coplanar waveguide, or coupled impedance—and omits dispersion, copper roughness, solder mask, plating, glass weave, etch trapezoids, return paths, vias, and statistical yield.

Stack-up and frequency can reveal an unreleased hardware design

Refreshing or closing discards current inputs. CSV contains width, dielectric height, εr, impedance, and effective permittivity for eight corners; reports and optional local checkpoints read the visible summary. Product band, stack-up, and tolerances may be commercially sensitive, so review them before sharing.

These values never contain inputs, files, or results; the current site also keeps a local compatibility copy.

Local report studio

The report studio reads only the workbench’s currently visible result summary for local preview, Markdown copy, JSON download, printing, and a SHA-256 fingerprint. It never reads input controls or original files and is not persisted unless you choose to download it.

Optional local checkpoints

Only when you explicitly choose Save does the tool write the visible result summary, time, and optional short label to this site’s browser storage, up to five entries. Imported files and input-control contents are never stored; you can export, restore same-tool checkpoints, or clear them at any time. Imports are limited to 128KB and validate the tool, timestamp, summary, and label of up to 80 characters.
